Boys and Girls Country is blessed with the dedication of hundreds of volunteers who choose to spend their energy, time and resources to enrich our kids’ lives and improve our home. Without volunteers like you, Boys and Girls Country would not have its heart. From tutoring in a cottage, to teaching our kids how to bake cupcakes or play the guitar, to helping our families deep clean, volunteers are part of our family and help us raise our children. The services you provide as a volunteer save Boys and Girls Country thousands of dollars every year. In 2017, more than 1,400 volunteers provided 5,424 hours of volunteer service, valued at $130,935! We couldn’t do it without you!

Long term volunteers must complete a volunteer application as well as a background check, fingerprinting and TB test before beginning to volunteer. Volunteers must also meet with the Volunteer Coordinator for orientation before meeting with their area supervisor for further training. Any person visiting Boys and Girls Country on a regular basis to spend time with our children will be considered a volunteer applicant and must go through the application and placement process to comply with the State Department of Family and Protective Services requirements.

Things to know before volunteering at BGC:

  • Individual volunteers must be at least 18 years old and must successfully complete a background check prior to service.
  • Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
  • We cannot offer court-ordered community service.

Walk of Hope Tours

Curious about life on our campus and in our cottages? Would you like to see first-hand the warm, family-oriented home your support makes possible?

Tours are held the first Saturday of most months beginning at 10 a.m. Guests are asked to meet in the Administration building. Come join us for a tour of our campus and cottages. It’s an hour of wonderful stories, great information and an inside look at where our children live. This is not a fundraising event. Bring only an open heart and a friend. Contact Susan Breaux at 832-807-2115 or susanb@boysandgirlscountry.org to RSVP.
