07/05/11 Volunteers Partner with Our Kids for a Mural!

We kicked off the first week of Summer Program with a bang!  Friends at Harvest Bible Church teamed up with artist Hope from The Village Brigade to design a beautiful mural for the side of our Community Life Building...and the best part is: Our kids got to help make her design a reality!  We are so grateful to Harvest Bible Church for creating this opportunity for our Home!  Keep reading to see how it all came together.

DAY ONE
On Friday, June 24^th, Ms. Hope arrived early in the morning to prepare her paints and the wall. She painted on clouds, basic grass, and outlines of trees and then invited each child to add details like leaves, birds, grass, a cornfield, a city and more!  By Friday evening the balloons were already taking flight! Our kids were covered in paint and proud to point out what section they had personally worked on.

Ms. Hope was an excellent instructor!

DAY TWO
Saturday was abuzz with activity as cottages came to paint in shifts and several Harvest Bible Church members stopped by to help. The mural expanded onto a south wall and was even larger and more beautiful than we had anticipated!

As you can see, everyone had a great time painting, and they did a great job!
