12/05/08 Vehicles Are Needed At Boys and Girls Country

With the rising energy costs that Boys and Girls Country has experienced during the year, a new plan has been implemented to improve fuel efficiency with vehicles used by our cottages.  Our cottages currently drive 12 passenger vans when they take the "cottage family" on outings, but our goal is for the houseparents to use a more fuel efficient car, or mini van when only 1 or 2 children are being transported.  The majority of cottage travel is short trips to school conferences and doctor and dentist appointments for one of the 8 children who live in each cottage.  At those times, driving the large vans is just not efficient.

As we come to the end of 2008, we are requesting donations of cars and mini vans that will seat 4-5 people.  We need vehicles that are are fuel efficient, and in good working condition.  If you are interested in donating a car or mini van, please contact Elaine Petranek at 281.351.4976, ext. 219 or elaine.petranek@boysandgirlscountry.org.
